"Sustainability and climate change issues are generic problems, no matter what profession you're in, but architecture and landscape seem to be in key positions to influence the responses to tackle them. My dissertation focused on the subject of coastal lowlands and their accelerated flooding due to sea level rise and how landscape design can be utilised not only as a defence against flooding, but how flooding itself can be incorporated and exploited within a defensive strategy. After all, tidal mudflats and salt water marshes provide some of the most biodiverse habitats in the world."
